Here’s a little of my story and how you came to be reading this.  Growing up I always loved being outside and helping in the garden alongside my farmer dad.  I credit him with my green thumb.  My love of plants continued to grow so I went on to Cal Poly, San luis Obispo (SLO) and pursued a degree in Environmental Horticulture.  While there I took floral design classes as electives taught by the talented Melinda Lynch (Festive Designs, SLO).  I soon joined the floral design club, albeit with ulterior motives.  My friends were traveling to floral competitions in Italy and throughout the U.S. and who wouldn’t want to ride that train, er plane?!  With travel opportunities in front of me I started designing and realized that I actually kind of liked this; loved it really.  As a bonus, my clients tell me I’m actually pretty good at it too (check out my Testimonials page).

Through floral competitions from coast-to-coast, internships, working in floral retail shops, and doing an occasional wedding for family or friends, I've learned a few things about myself.  I love the creativity that floral design allows and the ability to bring a concept to life.  I enjoy meeting new people and hearing their stories, and I find it life-giving to be able to bring beauty into the lives of others.  So, with a little bit of fear and a lot of excitement, Carrie Thengvall Floral Design officially began in July 2013.

It has been a surprising and rewarding journey for which I am very grateful.  I so enjoy working alongside clients to provide custom designs and in turn, getting to know and be a part of each one’s story in some small way.  Thanks for taking the time to read my story.  I hope to get the opportunity to work with you in the future!
